Education & Youth Partners

Our Education and Youth Partners help us to involve young people in our community development projects, providing a vital helping hand to developing communities plus engaging with, and educating them about, the issues surrounding poverty.

The Great Generation’s educational Partner projects offer wonderful opportunities for sixth form, University and MBA students to engage in international volunteering. This life-changing experience is pivotal in terms of educating young people about the world outside their usual experience.

What benefits does a partnership bring?

Employers and universities alike, value the experience and maturity that volunteering activities such as those offered by The Great Generation equip young people with.

The schools programme is a life-changing opportunity, primarily aimed at the September lower VIth intake. We encourage a whole school approach whereby young people are able to engage their natural creativity by getting involved in organising and planning fundraising events. As well as being able to utilise their natural curiosity to explore and develop relationships with communities around the world.

Many of our partners offer the IB Diploma as our unique volunteering projects integrate well with both the CAS aspects of the IB curriculum as well as many other Sixth Form student activities.

All groups are supervised by The Great Generation project leaders. As per the HSE health and safety guidelines we invite one or two suitably qualified members of staff to accompany students under eighteen. This offers an additional opportunity for teachers to apply and continue to develop their professional skills (CPD) in accordance with the DCSF Learning Outside the Classroom Agenda (LOTC) recommendations.

Our projects normally involve two weeks in country but early planning is critical to the success of these ventures and the minimum length of time between initiation and delivery is considered to be an average of nine months.

The Great Generation is keen to further develop our links with schools and universities while also offering further opportunities to network with other participating partner organisations,
