Open Volunteer ProgrammeAt present we have a number of exciting partnerships with Companies, Schools and Universities underway so have chosen to focus more of our resources on strengthening the links with these UK based partners as well as the Community Partners on the ground. For this reason, our Open Volunteering Programme has been postponed. Keep an eye on our website for the re-launch of the Open Volunteering Programme.
School Programme
In 2012 we will be working with LaSwap Consortium School and Calder High School to deliver two more Community Development Projects in Jinja, Uganda. These projects will see students from these schools volunteering their time to build libraries, dig community gardens and deliver peer to peer exchange programmes in schools and youth groups throughout Jinja. The volunteers will also be working to dig community gardens, to provide a source of food and income for grandmothers within the community.
ESCP Europe
In 2012 The Great Generation will be continuing its partnership with ESCP Europe and for the first time is a formal module in the curriculum of the Masters in Marketing and Creativity. Students will address the challenge of the branding of one local NGO partner in Uganda and look at the needs of a community garden to develop not only as a source of food for local people but also as a commercial enterprise and future livelihood opportunity.
MBA Students
In 2012 the MBA programme will extend The Great Generation's reach using the business skills of students to work across a range of local NGOs to identify new partners and develop 3-5 year plans for volunteer projects. The Great Generation's work with MBA schools is as a module as part of the curriculum and will also see students support NGOs to develop data management programmes, revenue streams and organisational capacity.
