Millennium Development Goals

• Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
• Achieve universal primary education
• Promote gender equality and empower women
• Reduce child mortality
• Improve maternal health
• Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
• Ensure environmental sustainability
• Develop a global partnership for development

Using a multi sector partnership approach, The Great Generation is able to deliver sustainable development opportunities to communities in need, and through its partnership approach address the Millennium Development Goals in a variety of innovative ways.

Framed by community development needs, the strength of The Great Generation lies in its engagement of a variety of sectors – private, public and third sector - building upon the skills, experience and goodwill that exists to fully inform work at a grass roots level.

As this collective network is activated, The Great Generation is able to deliver its unique and effective volunteering programme and head towards the ambitious target of ‘making poverty history’ and achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

The Great Generation has four types of partners: Expert Partners, Education & Youth Partners, Strategic Partners and Volunteer Partners

Expert Partners:

Expert partners are Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Community Based Organisations (CBOs), and local charities working towards any one of the Millennium Development Goals. Expert Partner needs form the backbone of The Great Generation’s work, and lie at the heart of the organisation’s partnership based approach. Expert Partners receive volunteers on community-based and capacity building projects for the duration of a partnership with The Great Generation.

Education and Youth Partners:

The Great Generation’s Education and Youth Partners ensure that young people engage with a diverse range community development projects, bringing aspects of their curriculum to life and engaging with the issues surrounding poverty from a young age.

Strategic Partners:

Strategic Partners contribute to The Great Generation’s core development by building organisational capacity. Strategic partners may provide skills, resources and core funding to help The Great Generation increase its impact and strengthen its global mission.

Volunteer Partners:

These are Corporate and Public sector Partners who provide the volunteers needed to help achieve The Great Generation’s vision. Partners deliver upon the Millennium Development Goals in an innovative way, enabling staff to apply their skills sets and engage with both community-based and capacity building projects across the world. Volunteer partnerships deliver upon PR, CSR and HR agendas in one programme.
