Our Values

The Great Generation is committed to developing multi-sector partnerships that complement and add capacity to ongoing development programmes. Our key aims are to promote integration, education, innovation and effectiveness, by complementing and adding capacity and skills to ongoing grass root development projects and increasing the agency of individuals.

Integration

  • Complement and support the work of aid agencies and governments on the ground.
  • Create long-term relationships in order to help achieve sustainable development.
  • Integrate individuals, communities and cultures from around the world.
  • Scale-up the involvement of companies in contributing to sustainable development.

Education

  • Share resources, knowledge and skills to assist communities in developing countries
  • Make volunteers aware of the causes of poverty and their role in driving and achieving change

Innovation

  • Deliver creative and relevant projects focused on community needs
  • Develop new ways of working

Effectiveness

  • Set up community-driven volunteer projects
  • Help create an environment where the expertise of governments, aid agencies, companies and individuals are brought together to achieve common goals
  • Provide the opportunity for people to give something back and contribute effectively to charitable causes in the future

Investment:

  • Provide financial and other opportunities to members of disadvantaged communities in need so that they are better able to meet their needs and participate in society and achieve sustained development and growth
  • Support infrastructure in communities
  • Provide microfinance funding through our volunteer projects
  • Engage organisations and their staff so that more skills and resources can be channelled into long-term development programmes

Empowerment

  • Support local business and entrepreneurship through microfinance
  • Add capacity to our Expert Partners through consultation, training and skill sharing so that they can better deliver on their mission in the communities where they work

Integrity

  • To be direct and straight forward in all our activites and underpin our action with doing what is right not just what is expected.
  • To know when to act as an individual in order to challenge and seek better outcomes for the whole, and to know how and when to act as individuals within a group to fulfil the collective vision of the network
