The Great Generation Team
Suzanne Gowler - Founder and CEO
Suzanne founded The Great Generation in 2004 to create an effective programme of volunteering that responds to the needs of communities living in poverty - enabling volunteers to take part in a sustainable development project, where they get to see their donation in action and help to invest in local infrastructure and microfinance ventures.
Over the last 20 years, Suzanne has assisted companies to develop internal and external strategies to address business improvement, in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors with local and international organisations and governments.
The Great Generation is a great opportunity to bring together many diverse threads of her experience and her passionate belief that the public and private sector need to develop new ways of working to achieve shared goals. Many of the proprietary tools that are used in her consulting work are being used by The Great Generation to develop and implement its strategy as well as that of its expert partners.
Jenni Alexander – Volunteer Relationships Executive
Jenni is responsible for managing and maintaining Volunteers and Volunteering at the Great Generation. This includes recruiting and retaining individuals, ensuring all volunteers have the best experience possible and developing the Great Generation’s Volunteer Management programme
Jenni has worked in the voluntary and community sector for the last six years, including a regional infrastructure development organization and a housing Co-op. Jenni has come to The Great Generation after working at YouthNet, the charity behind www.do-it.org.uk, the National Volunteering Database. Whilst at YouthNet Jenni managed a team of virtual volunteers and offered advice to Volunteer Centres and Volunteer Involving Organisations about the best way to recruit volunteers as well as training them how to use differing volunteer management databases. Jenni also spent a short time working for Volunteering England.
Jenni graduated from Buckinghamshire Chiltern University College in 2004 with a BA in Music Industry Management and Popular Music. She volunteers for Crisis, the Cinnamon Trust, Shelter from the Storm and the Scratching Post.
Sarah Kuehne - Knowledge Manager
Sarah is responsible for managing external communications and brand awareness. Development of the website, creation and maintenance of content. Overseeing the design, production and dissemination of all promotional material to engage with new and existing volunteers, as well as attract potential partners.
Sarah Kuehne joined The Great Generation team following four successful years coordinating and managing fundraising events for The Funding Network, which has been described as the UK’s first public, open giving circle. Sarah was pivotal in transforming the organization which has raised over £2m for 350 projects to date. She was the visionary leader and hands on coordinator for a youth spin-off of the organisation. Its aim was to bring awareness to the next generation of givers and capitalize on the enthusiasm and philanthropy within this sector. The initiative was recognised at the prestigious national Third Sector Excellence Awards Ceremony scooping ‘Best Fundraising Event’ in 2008.
Sarah boasts a Masters degree in Fine Art Media and she uses her creative talent and new media skills to bring together the donors and the inspirational work being done by charities, creating a more personal relationship between giver and receiver.
Born in England and educated in Spain, Germany, New York and London, as well as frequent, extended stays in both in China and India, Sarah comes with an international background and a passion for social change.
