Corporate Partners

The Great Generation links business with communities in need to identify, alleviate and innovate around the most immediate problems they confront. Through engaging with our programme of activity we unlock the full potential of staff, developing creative thinking, teamwork and leaderships skills in the process. We strive to match core business strategy with community need, offering a fresh perspective on Corporate Social Responsibility based upon relevance, empowerment and entrepreneurship.

“If I had been offered this type of opportunity it would have made the graduate packages I applied for really interesting…this would have definitely made me more committed in the workplace…”
Female, 26, graduated 2002

Our core programme is phased into four stages:

  1. Programme planning: support, project development, fundraising
  2. Landing in the community: 2 week unique development project, skills development, collaboration with host community
  3. Project implementation: enterprise, microfinance, community solutions
  4. Ongoing sustainability: Supply Chain, volunteers network, further volunteering, further community investment

Each stage of engagement is participatory, leveraging partnerships and networks across a variety of sectors to offer support in the long term. A multi sector partnership approach lies at the heart of our activities – it is simple, we believe we can do more and give more to our partners, by working together.

What business benefits does the partnership bring?

"The project made me strip back my ideas of what is necessary to the most basic level and work up as there's no point trying to achieve massive goals when the simple things are not in place”
Former project participant, 2005

Innovative human capital investment: education and skills transfer lie at the heart of our programmes - we are a young, innovative and forward thinking organisation offering a variety of development opportunities to employees.

Unlocking partnership potential: we work with partners across a variety of sectors in order to ensure expert knowledge, education and support is available to participants at each stage of project implementation.

Team building, training and work experience: participants work as a team to confront and alleviate the most immediate community needs engaging in the long term and effecting positive change.

Tax efficient giving: donations of staff time and money to charitable causes qualify for different forms of tax relief.

Insights into social enterprise: our programmes deliver experiential learning in the fields of entrepreneurship, microfinance, and setting up and running a community enterprise.

Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for staff: we believe staff are the most important asset for any company – our programmes invest in people by offering a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people and communities in need.
