forthcoming projects Marketing and Business Development Project Kampala, Uganda12th - 23rd July 2010 (2 weeks)

About this Project
Building on the success of a similar project in 2009, a group of ESCP Europe Masters student will go to Uganda and take part in a project working with KVTC, our Expert Partner in Uganda. The group will spend two weeks helping the vocational training centre, which the organisation runs, to become a self-sustainable enterprise. The project will enable the volunteers to see their skills utilised for the benefit of this community-based organisation and promote the creation of livelihood initiatives through investments in microfinance. In particular KVTC will need help with both marketing and storytelling - enabling them to uncover the incredible journeys that trainees have made and feeding this content into a viable marketing strategy.

Who should take part in this project?
If you are a staff member you may sign up to take part in this project.

Information about taking part in this project
To take part in this project we need you to fill in a volunteer registration form. To confirm a place on the project you will need to transfer a £120 non-refundable donation. Volunteers are asked to fundraise a set amount of money that covers your flights, food, local transport and accommodation. Most of the services we use on the project, such as accommodation, food and transport, are sourced from the community you will be working in to help stimulate the local economy.

The fundraising also goes towards the community in two ways. One part helps to set up a microfinance fund in the community, which is used to help local people create livelihoods for themselves. The second part is provided as an infrastructure grant to the community.

Briefings
Volunteers must attend two half-day briefings. It is important that you attend both briefings as we use this time to do planning for the project as well as getting you prepared for the community you will be volunteering in for the two weeks.
