Senior Management Training in Uganda
Jinja, UgandaSeptember 4th - 18th 2010About this project
This project is a tailored project for staff to volunteer for 2 weeks in Jinja, Uganda giving support to our Expert Partner, ASDHI which currently requires skills development across staff, volunteers and local school senior management. Skills training is usually expensive and as ASDHI is located in a rural area it is very difficult for the team to access training in these areas. Skills capacity tends to also to be lower due to increasing pressure upon the rural education sector. The volunteers will deliver a teacher training and capacity framework so that on a continuous basis ASDHI in collaboration with the sub-county education office can use it to train school leaders to prepare them for the demands of their jobs.
Information about taking part in this project
To take part in this project selected staff must fill in a volunteer registration form. To confirm a place on the project you will need to transfer a £120 non-refundable donation. Volunteers are asked to fundraise a set amount of money that covers your flights, food, local transport and accommodation. Most of the services we use on the project, such as accommodation, food and transport, are sourced from the community you will be working in to help stimulate the local economy.
The fundraising also goes towards the community in two ways. One part helps to set up a microfinance fund in the community, which is used to help local people create livelihoods for themselves. The second part is provided as an infrastructure grant to the community.
Briefings
Volunteers must attend two half-day briefings. It is important that you attend both briefings as we use this time to do planning for the project as well as getting you prepared for the community you will be volunteering in for the two weeks.
