About this project

The Great Generation will be sending out a group of volunteers to deliver a capacity building project with our Expert Partner, KCCC - an HIV/Aids Outreach and Home-Care Initiative based in Kampala, Uganda. This project will see data management experts create and install an organisational data management system for our Expert Partner KCCC, a medical CBO based in Kampala. Another element is to building the capacity of staff in its use and implementation in order for them to share their knowledge with other CBO's and to be a centre of excellence for training.

To take part in this project selected staff must fill in a volunteer registration form. To confirm a place on the project you will need to transfer a £120 non-refundable donation. Volunteers are asked to fundraise a set amount of money that covers your flights, food, local transport and accommodation. Most of the services we use on the project, such as accommodation, food and transport, are sourced from the community you will be working in to help stimulate the local economy.

The fundraising also goes towards the community in two ways. One part helps to set up a microfinance fund in the community, which is used to help local people create livelihoods for themselves. The second part is provided as an infrastructure grant to the community.

Briefings
Volunteers must attend two half-day briefings. It is important that you attend both briefings as we use this time to do planning for the project as well as getting you prepared for the community you will be volunteering in for the two weeks.
