Calder High Tailored Project 2010
Kampala, Uganda2010 Back ground
In 2008 and 2009, The Great Generation took a group of students and teachers from Calder High out to volunteer on a community development project. The students and staff helped to develop environment and hygiene initiatives with our Expert Partner and had an amazing yet challenging time. With this in mind The Great Generation worked with Calder High School to recruit a team of student volunteers to go to Kampala and continue this work.
The project
Continuing work in the model garden, created by the 2009 Calder Group, the volunteers built compost heaps, water traps and sheds and trained staff and clients in maintaining the garden. The volunteers built on the success of the previous year?s community cohesion days and delivered a variety of workshops in the community to promote the work of Reach Out Mbuya and shared cultural education with a local school that has connections to Reach Out Mbuya.
