The Great Generation Staff

Suzanne Gowler

Suzanne Gowler

Founder and CEO

Suzanne has assisted companies over the last 20 years to develop internal and external strategies to address business improvement, in a range of sectors and with clients such as General Motors, The Royal Ballet, The Body Shop and GSK.

Her experience in the not-for-profit sector is wide ranging from a trustee for a charity working with disenfranchised groups in society to advising companies on the effective use of philanthropic funds. Recent projects have involved advisory work with UN agencies and governing bodies particularly in relation to developing operating models for work with the private sector.

The Great Generation is a great opportunity to bring together many diverse threads of her experience and her passionate belief that the private sector is perfectly poised to unlock the potential of its network to bring about change and sustained improvement in the developing world.

Suzanne has travelled for work and pleasure in many developing regions of the world, including, the Gaza Strip and Central and South America.

Lauren Godfrey

Lauren Godfrey

Programme & Partnerships Manager

Lauren hails from New Zealand and has extensive experience of volunteering and travelling in developing countries, including Laos, Malaysia, Borneo, Thailand, and Cambodia. Lauren also recently spent a month living ‘island-style’ in a hut with local villagers in Fiji.

Lauren has a strong belief in the positive mutual benefits volunteering brings to both volunteers and the community. The time she spent working as a volunteer placement adviser in a New Zealand Volunteer Centre only added to this appreciation. Lauren has undertaken various voluntary work with at-risk youth, sports teams and amnesty international.

Lauren most recently worked at the Ministry for the Environment in New Zealand, and was involved with environmental policy ranging from climate change to Maori participation in resource management. She graduated with a BA in Political Science, focussing on third world development, gender studies and environmental science.

Emily Hyde

Emily Hydes

Corporate Partnerships

Emily has a number of years' experience fundraising for charities, securing support for a wide range of projects from puppetry with prisoners through to a national media training programme for disadvantaged youth.

After graduating from Cambridge with an MA in Geography, she started out in the media working for radio and briefly television, where she primarily worked as a documentary researcher. Researching subjects as diverse as the experiences of teenage fathers through to Islamic communities in Cathedral cities, her passion lay with people and the issues they confront in their day to day lives.

On receiving a government grant Emily managed a programme in Young Offender Institutes teaching filmmaking. Emily developed a constitution, in order to receive charitable status for this project, thus beginning the start of her voluntary sector career.

Since this time, Emily has fundraised for projects which bring skills and training to those most in need, with a particular passion for linking corporate funding to small scale community projects. She has previously worked with a wide range of corporates such as MTV, Deutsche Bank, Barclays and Atos Origin.
